“I was introduced to Brighter Days Senior Care through a church member of St. Rita’s parish in Bellmawr, NJ. It was December 2010 and I needed some assistance with my mother who was nearly 93 years old at the time. They highly recommended as a compassionate and honest person and that has proven to be absolutely true.
My mother is Italian and could speak some broken English. With the onset of dementia, she began to lose her ability to communicate well in either English or Italian. The caregiver was very patient and encouraged my mother, with voice and gesture, to help her understand. Although my mother was resistant to anyone helping her in her own home, she accepted Donna and actually looked forward to having breakfast with Donna. They would go through old photographs with her, wash and set her hair and do her nails. They helped my mother to bake bread and water the plants. The caregiver brought over Italian CDs so she and my mother could listen to Italian music and sing together! They always looked for ways to engage my mother and she managed to keep her active and interested.
Eventually, in June 2011, my mother needed to enter a nursing home, mostly due to her wandering from home repeatedly. I feel that my mother was able to stay in her own home for the last six months because of Brighter Days service.
